DFI
Washington, DC
The design of this office incorporated an unusual programmatic requirement. Though a defense contractor, DFI wanted to maintain the informal art gallery that was central to their cultural identity in their previous, more informal office space. The reincarnated gallery helps define and visually expand the reception area, while its diagonal axis provides a dramatic counterpoint to the strictly rectilinear floorplate. The adjacency with the board room and president’s office provides ample space for large gatherings as well as revealing to visitors a unique aspect of their identity.
