Rowhouse Expansion

Washington, DC

This classic DC row house had an outdated kitchen and small den at the rear of the house. They were dark, visually cut off from each other, and lacked a real connection to the large rear garden. Building a small addition allowed the kitchen to be enlarged and connected to the den. The existing powder room was moved from the rear wall to the interior, permitting a new wall of glass to open to a deck. The result is a bright and inviting space, connected to the outdoors as well as the more formal rooms. The entire main floor benefits from improved circulation and open sight lines.
